Descripción
Interleukin 12 beta (IL12B), also referred to as IL-12p40, is another key subunit of interleukin-12 and is critical for immune regulation and pathogen defense. IL12B pairs with IL12A to form IL-12 or with IL23A to form IL-23, a related cytokine involved in promoting inflammation and autoimmunity. Produced primarily by antigen-presenting cells in response to microbial infections or inflammatory stimuli, IL12B drives the differentiation of naïve CD4+ T-cells into Th1 cells, promoting IFN-γ secretion and enhancing immune responses against intracellular pathogens. Genetic variations in IL12B have been linked to increased susceptibility to autoimmune disorders, such as psoriasis and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). As a result, IL12B is a target of therapeutic interest in immune-mediated diseases, and IL-12/IL-23 inhibitors have been developed to treat conditions like psoriasis and Crohn's disease. Understanding the intricate regulation and functional roles of IL12B remains a priority in immunological research.

anti- IL12B antibody
Cytokine that can act as a growth factor for activated T and NK cells, enhance the lytic activity of NK/lymphokine-activated killer cells, and stimulate the production of IFN-gamma by resting PBMC. Associates with IL23A to form the IL-23 interleukin, a heterodimeric cytokine which functions in innate and adaptive immunity. IL-23 may constitute with IL-17 an acute response to infection in peripheral tissues. IL-23 binds to a heterodimeric receptor complex composed of IL12RB1 and IL23R, activates the Jak-Stat signaling cascade, stimulates memory rather than naive T-cells and promotes production of proinflammatory cytokines. IL-23 induces autoimmune inflammation and thus may be responsible for autoimmune inflammatory diseases and may be important for tumorigenesis.
