Description
Human Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA) Protein is a Human protein isolated from single patient Human Colon Adenocarcinoma Liver Metastatic tissue. It can be used as a marker for screening and monitoring maliganant disease states and as an immunogen for antisera production, as a tracer for iodination and as a standard for immunoassays. This product is not suitable for in vitro or in vivo studies of specific immune responses (vaccine trials).

Carcino Embryonic Antigen (CEA) is synthesised during development in the fetal gut, and is re-expressed in increased amounts in intestinal carcinomas and several other tumors. Antibodies to CEA are useful in identifying the origin of various metastatic adenocarcinomas and in distinguishing pulmonary adenocarcinomas (60 to 70% are CEA+) from pleural mesotheliomas (rarely or weakly CEA+).
