Background
Amyloid precursor protein (APP) is a highly conserved protein. Amyloid precursor-like protein 1 (APLP1) and amyloid precursor-like protein 2 (APLP2) are homologous of APP. APLP1 was the first identified homologue , while APLP2, was later recognized as another homologue of APP . These three proteins share significant sequence similarity and possess conserved domain structures. APLP1, a type I transmembrane protein, plays a crucial role in synaptic adhesion and synaptogenesis. Is actively involved in the formation of protein-protein complexes that serve as bridges between closely adjacent cells, facilitating cell-cell interactions and communication
