Descripción
ADAM Like Decysin 1 (ADAMDEC1) is a member of the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloprotease) family of proteins, which are involved in proteolysis and cell-cell or cell-matrix interactions. Unlike most ADAM proteins, ADAMDEC1 lacks a transmembrane domain, making it a secreted protein. It is primarily expressed in immune-related tissues, such as lymph nodes, the colon, and macrophages, where it is thought to participate in immune response regulation and extracellular matrix remodeling. ADAMDEC1 is involved in degrading extracellular matrix proteins, potentially playing a role in inflammation, tissue remodeling, and immune surveillance. Dysregulation of ADAMDEC1 has been associated with inflammatory conditions and cancer, where altered extracellular matrix remodeling contributes to tumor invasion and metastasis. Emerging research focuses on its role in modulating immune cell activity and its potential as a biomarker or therapeutic target in inflammatory and oncological diseases.
