Description

EDN1 Antibody is a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody against EDN1. EDN1, also named as Endothelin-1, PPET1 and ET-1, belongs to the endothelin/sarafotoxin family. Endothelins are endothelium-derived vasoconstrictor peptides. Emerging basic science, and animal and human data all suggest that EDN1 is a potentially important contributor in the pathobiology of fibrosing disorders, including those that affect the lung(PMID:20055532).

Descripción

Endothelin-1 (EDN1) is a peptide hormone belonging to the endothelin family. It plays a crucial role in regulating blood vessel contraction and dilation, thereby influencing blood pressure and blood flow throughout the body. Endothelin-1 is primarily produced by endothelial cells, It is also produced by other cell types, including vascular smooth muscle cells, cardiomyocytes, and certain inflammatory cells.Endothelin-1 acts as a potent vasoconstrictor, meaning it causes blood vessels to narrow, leading to an increase in blood pressure. Dysregulation of endothelin-1 signaling is associated with several cardiovascular disorders, including hypertension, atherosclerosis, coronary artery disease, and pulmonary hypertension. Elevated levels of endothelin-1 have been observed in individuals with these conditions, contributing to their pathogenesis. Endothelin-1 is able to bind to specific receptors on target cells known as endothelin receptors. There are two main types of endothelin receptors: endothelin receptor type A (ETA) and endothelin receptor type B (ETB).

EDN1 antibody

This gene encodes a preproprotein that is proteolytically processed to generate a secreted peptide that belongs to the endothelin/sarafotoxin family. This peptide is a potent vasoconstrictor and its cognate receptors are therapeutic targets in the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension. Aberrant expression of this gene may promote tumorigenesis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
