Dog Catalase (Cat) ELISA Kit is an ELISA Kit for the in vitro quantitative measurement of Dog Catalase concentrations in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological fluids.
Background
Catalase (CAT) is found in nearly all living organisms exposed to oxygen (such as bacteria, plants, and animals), Te enzyme catalyzes the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. Structurally is a tetramer composed of four polypeptide chains, each over 500 amino acids long and containing four iron-containing heme groups that enable it to react with hydrogen peroxide. Defects in the catalase enzyme can lead to acatalasemia, characterized by a lack of catalase activity in red cells, resulting in ulcerating oral lesions.

La catalasa (CAT) se encuentra en casi todos los organismos vivos expuestos al oxígeno (como bacterias, plantas y animales). La enzima cataliza la descomposición del peróxido de hidrógeno en agua y oxígeno. Estructuralmente es un tetrámero compuesto por cuatro cadenas polipeptídicas, cada una de más de 500 aminoácidos de largo y que contienen cuatro grupos hemo que contienen hierro que le permiten reaccionar con el peróxido de hidrógeno. Los defectos en la enzima catalasa pueden provocar acatalasemia, caracterizada por una falta de actividad catalasa en los glóbulos rojos, lo que resulta en lesiones bucales ulcerosas.
