Descripción

CD2-associated protein (CD2AP) is a cytoskeletal adaptor protein that plays a crucial role in cellular signaling and structural organization, particularly in podocytes within the kidney glomerulus. CD2AP interacts with various proteins to regulate actin cytoskeleton dynamics, supporting cell morphology and adhesion. It is a scaffolding protein that links membrane proteins, such as nephrin and other slit diaphragm proteins, to intracellular signaling pathways, ensuring the integrity of the filtration barrier in the kidney. Dysfunctions or mutations in the CD2AP gene are strongly associated with proteinuric kidney diseases, including focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). Beyond its role in the kidney, CD2AP is implicated in immune synapse formation due to its interaction with the CD2 receptor on T cells, facilitating immune cell communication. CD2AP's functions in vesicular trafficking and endocytosis are also essential for cellular homeostasis. This protein is increasingly studied in the context of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, where it is believed to impact amyloid precursor protein processing and autophagy pathways.

anti- Cd2ap antibody

Seems to act as an adapter protein between membrane proteins and the actin cytoskeleton. In collaboration with CBLC, modulates the rate of RET turnover and may act as regulatory checkpoint that limits the potency of GDNF on neuronal survival. Controls CBLC function, converting it from an inhibitor to a promoter of RET degradation. May play a role in receptor clustering and cytoskeletal polarity in the junction between T-cell and antigen-presenting cell. May anchor the podocyte slit diaphragm to the actin cytoskeleton in renal glomerolus. Also required for cytokinesis.
