Descripción
BTN2A1 is a member of the butyrophilin family, which is part of the immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily. It plays a role in immune regulation, particularly in the modulation of T-cell activation and immune tolerance. BTN2A1 is expressed on various immune and epithelial cells, suggesting its involvement in immune surveillance and homeostasis. It is thought to interact with γδ T-cells, influencing their activation. BTN2A1 also participates in lipid and protein transport processes in epithelial tissues.
