Background
BTN2A1 is a member of the butyrophilin family, which is part of the immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily. BTN2A1 is expressed on various immune and epithelial cells, suggesting its involvement in immune surveillance and homeostasis. It is thought to interact with γδ T-cells, influencing their activation. BTN2A1 also participates in lipid and protein transport processes in epithelial tissues.
