Descripción

BAG cochaperone 3 (BAG3) is a member of the BAG family of cochaperones that interacts with heat shock proteins like HSP70 and HSP90 to regulate cellular protein folding, stress responses, and protein degradation BAG3 is essential for the proper function of the cell’s proteostasis network, contributing to the maintenance of protein quality under stress conditions It plays a significant role in the regulation of apoptosis, autophagy, and cell survival, particularly in response to oxidative stress and heat shock conditions BAG3 is involved in the stabilization of key survival proteins, making it important for promoting cell survival during cellular stress It also has a role in skeletal muscle function and heart tissue maintenance, where its dysregulation contributes to diseases such as cardiomyopathy and muscle wasting disorders BAG3 has been implicated in cancer, where its overexpression promotes tumor cell survival, resistance to chemotherapy, and metastasis Studies suggest that BAG3 influences cytoskeletal dynamics and cellular motility, making it a key factor in cell migration and tissue remodeling
