May be involved in the trafficking of signaling proteins to the cilia.
ANKMY2 is a member of the ankyrin repeat and MYND domain-containing protein family, which functions in protein-protein interactions and cellular regulation. ANKMY2 is involved in signal transduction and intracellular processes by mediating interactions between various proteins through its ankyrin repeat domains. The MYND domain of ANKMY2 is a zinc finger motif often associated with transcriptional repression, suggesting a role in modulating gene expression and chromatin remodeling. ANKMY2 has been implicated in cellular differentiation, development, and responses to metabolic or environmental stress. Emerging studies indicate that dysregulation of ANKMY2 may play a role in cancer biology and other disorders where abnormal protein interactions and gene regulation disrupt cellular processes. Its structural features make ANKMY2 an important scaffold protein for coordinating complex signaling pathways and maintaining cellular homeostasis.
