Descripción

ANGPT1 is a secreted glycoprotein that plays a critical role in angiogenesis, the process of new blood vessel formation, and the stabilization of vascular networks. ANGPT1 binds to and activates the Tie2 receptor, a tyrosine kinase expressed on endothelial cells, leading to signaling pathways that promote endothelial cell survival, migration, and the formation of stable, mature blood vessels. ANGPT1 is essential for maintaining vascular integrity and preventing vascular leakage by enhancing cell-cell junctions and stabilizing endothelial barriers. It also counteracts pro-inflammatory signals and prevents excessive vascular permeability caused by VEGF or other stressors. ANGPT1 is involved in developmental processes such as embryonic vascular formation and tissue regeneration. Dysregulation of ANGPT1 has been implicated in vascular disorders, including chronic inflammation, edema, and cardiovascular diseases. ANGPT1’s role in maintaining vascular stability makes it a therapeutic target for diseases involving abnormal angiogenesis, such as cancer, diabetic retinopathy, and sepsis.
