Descripción
ANAPC2 is a core subunit of the Anaphase-Promoting Complex/Cyclosome (APC/C) and functions as part of the catalytic module that regulates its E3 ubiquitin ligase activity. ANAPC2 interacts directly with ANAPC11, the RING finger protein, and facilitates the recruitment of E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes to catalyze the transfer of ubiquitin onto substrates such as cyclin B, securin, and other key cell cycle regulators. This activity ensures the timely degradation of APC/C targets, driving the metaphase-to-anaphase transition and promoting exit from mitosis. ANAPC2 is critical for maintaining chromosomal stability and proper cell cycle progression. Dysregulation of ANAPC2 impairs APC/C activity, leading to mitotic defects, aneuploidy, and genomic instability, which are associated with cancer development and progression. Its catalytic role highlights ANAPC2 as a key player in cell division and a potential therapeutic target for controlling aberrant cell proliferation in cancers.
